Abstract

The development of digital technology has driven an increase in the use of e-commerce platforms that offer convenient transactions, which have the potential to foster consumptive behavior—that is, a tendency to purchase goods or services excessively—impacting not only an individual’s economic condition but also their psychological and spiritual well-being. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic counseling in reducing the consumptive behavior of e-commerce users through a literature review approach. The method used is a literature review (library research) by examining various scientific sources. The findings indicate that Islamic counseling plays a strategic role in controlling consumerist behavior through the strengthening of self-reflection (muhasabah), the internalization of values of simplicity (zuhud), the control of desires, the enhancement of Sharia financial literacy, and the cultivation of consumption behavior oriented toward the principles of maslahah and balance. The Islamic counseling approach focuses not only on behavioral change but also on spiritual development that encourages individuals to make religious values the foundation for making economic decisions. Thus, Islamic counseling can serve as an effective intervention alternative in helping e-commerce users develop more rational, responsible, and principles-based consumption behavior in accordance with Islamic economic principles.
